The Cundinamarca Military Gaula in coordination with the CTI of the Attorney General's Office with the support of the Caribbean Military Gaula, Military Police Battalions No.13 and 15, and the Urban Special Forces Battalion No.5 carried out a search operation and the arrest of 13 people with court orders for the crimes of usurpation of industrial property rights, corruption of food, medical products or prophylactic material, association to commit crimes, and illegal alienation of medicines.
This result was given after an arduous investigation led by the CTI that lasted about a year in which it was possible to confirm the existence of a criminal organization whose 15 of its members were identified, through a process of monitoring, who used as a criminal action the illegal marketing of medicines of dubious origin and originality, especially medicines called vital minimum required and of high cost used in the treatment of diseases such as cancer, HIV, Arthritis and the so-called rare or orphan diseases.
The group had the participation of several people, who illegally took the medicines from the clinics, others used laboratories to adulterate them, they had been in charge of the false registry, and false permits, and others sold them at low costs to different clinics.
It should be noted that this joint operation had a deployment of approximately 200 people (including men of the Military Gaula and officials of the CTI) who carried out 13 raids in the cities of Bogotá and Barranquilla to houses, drug stores and clinics in which evidence material was obtained and troops found more than 800 kilos of false medicines and some expired ones.
With this joint operations result, the illicit activities of the criminal groups that attack on the good physical condition, health, heritage and good faith of Colombians are considerably weakened.
