Since the afternoon-night of Saturday, April 30, soldiers of the Second Division of the National Army in coordination with the Police, face emergency wave caused by rains in the municipality of Santa Bárbara, Santander, after an avalanche occurred as a result of heavy rains in recent hours.
The facts took place in the San Jorge neighborhood, where after reviewing the situation, it became necessary to evacuate about 70 resident families of the sector, to prevent serious consequences after the emergency caused by rains. In the same way, two houses were damaged.
The soldiers continue to remove debris from houses and roads in the sector, and work was coordinated with the local authorities to assess the damage caused, take security measures and return the families who are in a shelter established by the municipal mayor's office.
The National Army invites the people of this important region to be very aware of the recommendations due to the wave caused by rains in the country, in the same way to report in a timely manner any situation that puts their good physical condition at risk. The soldiers are always attentive, trained and prepared to support the civilians, at any time or emergency if necessary.
