In a powerful blow dealt to drug trafficking, Colombian Navy units arrested four individuals who were transporting 860 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride aboard a ship in the waters of the Colombian South Pacific. These individuals, who apparently planned to supply the international criminal networks, are into custody of the s authorities.
The event occurred in the early hours of the morning, when crew members of the Primary Coast Guard Station of Tumaco carried out the maritime interception of a ship sailing suspiciously with 35 black sacks, which apparently contained packages similar to those designed by criminal organizations for the trafficking of narcotic substances.
As part of the operation, the difficult meteorological conditions caused water to enter the suspicious boat, causing its sinking in the area. Fortunately, the Colombian Sailors, in a quick operation, saved the lives of the four men and secured the evidence.
The personnel and the material were taken to the Tumaco dock in Nariño, where the Technical Research Staff - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) carried out the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that it was 860 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The drug found was put into custody of the authorities for destruction.
With this important finding, the Naval Institution disturbed the logistical and financial structures of transnational crime organizations by more than $28 million. It in the same way prevented the marketing of more than two million doses of cocaine on the streets of the world.
