The School of Military Engineers has demonstrated its commitment to the progress and development of Colombia by leading the first conference on Rail Transport: Foundations, Challenges and Opportunities for Colombia. This event, of vital importance for the future of the country, was attended by Major General Omar Esteban Sep煤lveda Carvajal, Second Commander of Colombian National Army, who inaugurated this crucial meeting.
In a joint work with the Pedagogical and Technological University of Colombia (UPTC), the School of Military Engineers took on the challenge of studying the needs and opportunities of railway transport in the Colombian context. With the participation of national experts, the conference became a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences to analyze the fundamentals, challenges and opportunities of the railway system in our country.
The keynote presentations given by professionals addressed various critical issues, including the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the planning and design of railway constructions, the quantification of demand and operations in railway transport for efficient management, as well as technical aspects related to the construction and superstructure of railway roads and their geometric design.
This conference has not only served as a platform for the discussion of innovative ideas and practical solutions, but has in the same way laid the foundations for future collaborations and projects that will promote sustainable development and connectivity in Colombia. In addition, it has led to strengthening the network of experts and professionals in the field of rail transport, thus promoting a greater exchange of knowledge and best practices.
