Through this operation, the commercialization of more than 280 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
In waters adjacent to the Valle del Cauca department, during control operations and comprehensive security, maritime, units of the Navy of Colombia found more than 1.7 tons of marijuana, which were being transported aboard a ship manned by a crew of three individuals of colombian nationality.
The operation began when a Colombian Navy ship detected a suspicious ship with its radars. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station was sent to the scene, which began the pursuit of the boat until the maritime interception.
Later, during the review and search of the ship, the Colombian Sailors found 69 sacks of different shapes and sizes, which by their characteristics would resemble narcotics, for which they were taken along with the individuals and the boat to a surface unit that was in the area.
The individuals aged 27, 32, and 55 were finally transported to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where the Technical Staff of Criminal and Judicial Investigation – CTI, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, which left positive result for 1,743 kilograms of marijuana.
Through this finding, the Naval Institution prevented the entry of more than 11 million dollars into the finances of drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Pacific.
