As part of a sea control operation, the Colombian Navy find 15 boxes of smuggled merchandise, transported on board a ship in the Caribbean Sea, near Necoclí, Antioquia.
After an alert call, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Urabá, intercepted the suspicious ship, which was later taken to the main dock of Necoclí - Antioquia, to be inspected by crew members of the Naval Institution and personnel of the Customs Police – POLFA.
During the review, 967 pairs of sports shoes and 3,576 pairs of socks were found by troops, items that did not have the documentation proving their origin or the import manifest issued by the National Tax and Customs Directorate – DIAN.
The merchandise, commercially valued at more than 20 million pesos, was put into custody of to the DIAN. The ship was immobilized due to criminal activities related to the smuggling of goods.
