In recent hours, in the framework of the agreement of maritime interdiction conducted by the Governments of Colombia and the United States, to fight against transnational crimes such as drug trafficking, a ship manned by six Colombians was detected and intercepted. It was transporting in international waters of the Pacific Ocean, a shipment containing 479 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The wooden fishing ship "Jos茅 Manuel" was detected by a US Coast Guard ship in international waters of the Pacific Ocean, when it was heading towards Central America, carrying 25 sacks with the alkaloid.
Units of the Pacific Naval Force that conducted maritime control and surveillance operations in this region of the country, moved to a point in the Pacific Ocean where the meeting with the United States Coast Guard unit took place. They gave the individuals and the drug. The fishing boat, which had a water leak, shipwrecked.
A Colombian Navy transported them to the port of Tumaco, in the department of Nari帽o, where the Anti-Narcotics Judicial Police made tested the substance and confirmed 479 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The individuals will be prosecuted for the crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying of narcotics.
So far this year, the Pacific Naval Force has found more than 62 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, preventing nearly 2,000 million dollars from entering drug trafficking organizations.
