Thanks to the union of inter-institutional efforts conducted by the Colombian Navy and the AGM Huellas de Piedra Foundation, peasants of the High Mountains of the municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar sold more than 20 tons of yam.
For two days these two institutions made their logistical and human resources available to the peasants of the high mountains. The AGM Huellas de Piedra Foundation was in charge of buying agricultural products from peasants, while the Colombian Navy through the Navy Infantry Battalion No.12 and the Navy Battalion No.13 transported food from the villages to the municipalities of San Jacinto, San Juan de Nepomuceno, Soplaviento, Santa Rosa de Lima and Villanueva to be distributed to the most vulnerable families.
Members of the Foundation and navy men toured the streets of these municipalities to benefit more than 3,200 people.
Merlis Milett Dayana Pérez, Secretary of the Interior and Government of the Municipality of San Jacinto Bolívar, thanked the institutions for the operation carried out, which distributed five tons of yam to vulnerable families, which leads to contribute to the food security of the inhabitants of San Jacinto.
With this activity it was in the same way possible to reduce costs in the distribution and marketing chain, promoting in this way the growth and economic development of the Sub-region of the Montes de Maria.
