90 families, victims of forced displacement in rural areas of Florencia, received aid to implement community gardens on their properties.
Caquetá. In order to contribute to improve the quality of life of the vulnerable population, the Sixth Division of the National Army, with its program 'Faith in Colombia' and the regional identity initiative 'Pasión Caquetá', assisted 95 families in the village of Roncesvalles of the municipality of Venecia, in Florencia, to receive materials to implement community gardens and improve their houses.
The tools that seek to guarantee food sovereignty and generate extra income for the inhabitants, most of them victims of forced displacement, of the sector of the Union Peneya, in La Montañita, were distributed by Social Prosperity in agreement with the Pan American Development Foundation, in execution of the program “Families at theirs lands”.
This is a sample of the inter-institutional articulation of efforts led by the National Army that seeks to join efforts so that, through its capacity in the territory, State programs and international cooperation resources reach the population that really needs them.
According to Suldery Galicia, member of the Communitarian Board of the village, this is not the first time that the tools of the institution are put into custody of the community. In 2010 after a calamity they were aided by Colombian soldiers. "We have already received aid of the Army, when we were in a flood, they took us to the Battalion and they relocated us. We hope they will not abandon us and we hope we can count on them," he explained.
This union of efforts will continue to take place in order to promote development, recover the confidence of the population towards institutions and dignify the people that live in the peripheral areas of the department of Caquetá.
