Thanks to the spirit of solidarity of the students of the Course of superior Military Studies, CAEM; Staff Course, CEM; Military Information Course, CIM, and Comprehensive National Defense Course, CIDENAL, and staff of the Escuela Superior de Guerra, ESDEG, joined forces to provide support amid the national contingency due to covid-19.
In the framework of Operation San Roque designed by the General Command of the Military Forces in the line of humanitarian assistance effort, duriong almost two months, 700 people (military and civilian) organized virtually by committees to plan the campaign “Colombia Una sola Familia”, in which they raised 130 million pesos for the acquisition of food baskets and basic necessities for the families of our soldiers.
With this contribution, made voluntarily by each one of the ESDEG students, it was possible to purchase 1,700 food baskets represented in basic necessities of the family basket, which benefited 6,000 members of the soldier’s families who serve the compulsory service in the National Army, National Navy and Colombian Air Force, military personnel wounded in combat of the Health Battalion and women heads of household, wives of our heroes who lost their lives in fulfillment of the mission, and who are part of the Battalion No.1, Las Juanas.
The distribution was divided into four zones: Southern Base of the Artillery Battalion No.13 GR. Fernando Landazábal Reyes; Puente Aranda- Battalion of military accessories No.1 Las Juanas, Health Battalion, Maintenance Battalion No.1 and Support and Services Battalion for Combat No.13 and No.21; Naval Military Police Battalion No.70, National Navy of Colombia; the Air Command of Military Transport and Air Maintenance Command of the Colombian Air Force.
In the same way, 1,400 books were distributed, thanks to the donation of Editorial Planeta, which will be distributed in each of the food baskets, to encourage the culture of reading in families during the pandemic situation. These food baskets will support the families of the members of the Colombian Military Forces who are in special economic situations due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19.
