The National Army with the support of the Civic participation network managed to find and destroy 13 explosive devices in the municipality of Arauquita, in the department of Arauca. These elements would have caused disturbance to law and order and hit the inhabitants, peasants and children who inhabit this municipality.
The first of these successful military operations occurred after search and control of the area, which led to the destruction of a minefield with more than 30 kilos of cone-type explosives in the village La Primavera, near inhabited houses; if detonated, they would have caused irreparable damage to the community.
In the same way, four explosives had been planted in the main road of the hamlet Filipinas, were destroyed by the Military Units that were carrying out road improvement works and sports facilities construction for all the families who inhabit this hamlet.
The third military operation was carried out in the village Campo Cinco, where, through an offensive search, it was possible to destroy two explosive devices that had been in the same way planted in an insane and indiscriminate way along the road where children, women, elderly and peasants are constantly traveling.
The last operation was carried out in the village La Pesquera, where it was possible to find a hole with an explosive device that was covered with branches and bushes, whose objective was to attack on the critical infrastructure of the State, regardless of the fact that residents frequently pass by the place.
The National Army reiterates the rejection of the use of these lethal elements, being clear evidence of the violation of the principles of International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights and the Ottawa Convention.
