This donation will benefit the troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, CONAT, and will contribute to military operations against drug trafficking in this region.
In a collaboration of the United States Embassy, through the Anti-Narcotics Affairs and Law Enforcement (INL) Section, a construction project was given to Colombian National Army at the facilities of the San Jorge military base, in the city of Cúcuta, Department of Norte de Santander.
The project consists of two modular buildings in which the INL invested more than 1.3 million dollars, to adapt an accommodation facility for approximately 150 members of the Military Forces, and a room, where operations in the Catatumbo region will be planned.
The coordinated and collaborative work with the U.S. Embassy contributes to the initiatives aimed at strengthening the fight against illicit activities and drug trafficking in the department.
This work in the same way work to provides a meeting point for the special units against drug trafficking that are conducted in the different municipalities of the region, leading to increase the combative morale of the troops and preserve the good physical condition and quality of life of the soldiers.
After several months of work to complete this project, on Tuesday, June 4, led by the second commander of Colombian National Army and the director of the Anti-Narcotics Affairs and Law Enforcement Implementation Section, the structure was given and begins to work immediately, with the planning of military operations.
