The arrests were made on public roads, in the cities of Medell铆n, Neiva and Bucaramanga. These people, apparently, would be responsible for the theft of more than 10 billion pesos.
An important result of the military operation was made possible at the national level by soldiers of the Infantry Battalion No.18 Coronel Jaime Rooke, of the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army, Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office.
According to the authorities, these individuals in the month of December 2021, allegedly had accessed the accounts and virtual banking of the mayor's office of Purification, where they had made several transactions, which amounted to more than 10 billion pesos, in the personal and business accounts in the name of several of those arrested, including seven men and one woman.
The eight arrested were taken to the capital city of Tolima and put into custody of the Second Specialized Prosecutor's Office of the city of Ibagu茅, for the crimes of theft by computer means and similar, illicit enrichment and money laundering.
The decisiveness of the military operation impacts illicit activities, thanks to the inter-institutional work conducted by the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps).
