The Colombian Navy, during operations against the drug trafficking production chain in the Colombian Pacific, found and destroyed in a controlled way eight illegal laboratories, used for the production of coca paste and cocaine hydrochloride, belonging to dissident groups of the FARC.
Guided by intelligence information of the Colombian Navy, units of the River Navy Infantry Battalion No. 40, troops of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Battalion No.4 of the National Army and officials of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, went towards the village La Pampa - municipality of Mosquera - Nariño, where the first two operations were carried out that resulted in the finding of two laboratories for the production and crystallization of cocaine hydrochloride, made up of 16 rudimentary structures. 6,010 gallons of liquid precursors and 1,134 kilograms of solid precursors were found by troops.
In parallel, the troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.41, conducted on the Mejicano River in Tumaco, found four laboratories and an illegal hideout with liquid precursors, belonging to the FARC dissident group Western Bloc Alfonso Cano, used for the production of coca base paste, in which 720 gallons of coca base in process, 794 gallons of liquid precursors and 25 kilograms solid precursors were found by troops.
Finally, troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.40 were deployed in the area of the Mira River, rural area of Tumaco, they found and subsequently destroyed in controlled conditions two laboratories used for the production of coca base paste, belonging to the FARC dissident group Iván Ríos, in which 540 gallons of coca base in process, 299 gallons of liquid precursors and 81 kilograms of solid precursors were found.
With the dismantling of these illegal infrastructures, the Colombian Navy hits the financial system of residual Organized Armed Groups, which commit crimes in the South Pacific of Nariño, by more than 1,900 million pesos, about US$ 429,255.
The operation carried out by the military Forces against the organized armed groups in the Colombian Pacific does not cease. The Pacific Naval Force through the Drug Trafficking Task Force No.72 Poseidon, is constant in its joint, coordinated and inter-institutional efforts to continue hitting drug trafficking, a criminal activity that constitutes the main source of financing for terrorist organizations, in addition to be the main factor generating violence, insecurity and anxiety in the Pacific region.
