The Naval Cadet School, as a Maritime University, initiated the second cohort of the Diploma in tactical planning in naval operations, in which 13 members of the Ecuadorian Navy participate, for the first time, along with 11 officers, Midshipmen and ensigns of the Colombian Navy.
Through May, students will be trained in military operations planning and guidance and will gain the necessary knowledge to meet operational and tactical challenges in fulfillment of the branch's mission. The academic program, which will be conducted through the technology-assisted distance methodology, is guided by military experts of the Colombian Navy and an instructor from the United States, who will share guidelines on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
"Trainings such as this Diploma, which have great academic relevance, are mainly focused on the administrative or civil field and not the military field, as the one that will be provided by the Naval School of Colombia”, said the Lieutenant of the Navy of Ecuador, Diego Morales, student of the diploma.
Student Susan Ruiz Bermúdez, one of the two women who completed the diploma for the first time, thinks it is an opportunity to strengthen her knowledge in the technical, tactical, operational and administrative areas of military operations, leading her later, from her Logistics specialty, to make a proper decision-making process in the environment of operational planning and the needs that guarantee successful operations.
During the opening of the academic program, the rear Admiral Javier Alfonso Jaimes Pinilla, Director of the Naval School Cadets, welcomed the students and added that “the diploma course includes both the doctrinal and the learning of the tactical cases that leads to a diploma that gives very useful tools to the commanders on the planning and tactical naval operations, specifically Navy Infantry, and in support of river operations.”
These academic environments where foreign and national students converge lead the Naval Cadet School Almirante Padilla, to continue to build knowledge in the Naval, Maritime and river areas, strengthening on the one hand the relations between the navies of other countries and promoting the defense, security and the maritime development of the country.
