Terrorist operations such as pipeline blasts are down 30 percent this year, highway blasts are down 89 percent and bridge blasts are down 100 percent.
In the Government of President Gustavo Petro, life is a priority; that is why the measures adopted in the field of security have led to a reduction in homicide, personal injuries and terrorist attacks, as well as the deaths and injuries among the Military Forces.
In the first three months of 2023, 3,205 cases have been reported, that is, 207 fewer homicides than those reported in the same period of 2022, which translates into a reduction of 6 percent.
Citizen coexistence in the same way reported better numbers. This is how personal injuries, which are mostly the result of fights, reported an 11 percent decrease, since, in the first three months of 2022, there were 28,867 cases, and for this year, 25,818 were reported, that is, 3,049 fewer cases.
Following the announcement by the National Government of a bilateral ceasefire with some organizations outlaw, there has in the same way been an improvement in terms of crimes related to public security. For example, the number of injured and dead among the Military Forces decreased, as well as the blowing up of petroleum pipelines, roads and bridges.
For this year, the analysis of the figures highlights the 59 percent reduction in the number of Military Forces injured. While in the first quarter of 2022, 206 members of the Military Forces were injured while on duty, in the same period of this year the figure does not exceed 84 cases.
The same goes for the deaths of members of the Military Forces. Between January and March of last year, 27 deaths were reported, while in the same period of this 2023 the report is 21 cases, which represents a decrease of 22 percent.
As for the blowing up of petroleum pipelines, the decrease of 30 percent occurred, going from 20 cases in the first three months of last year, to 8 cases this year; and road blasting in the same way reduced by 89 percent, going from 9 cases in the first quarter of the previous year to one case for this year. Bridge blasts in the same way went down, going from one case last year, to zero this year.
In general, according to the figures of the Military and Police Forces, analyzed by the Observatory of Human Rights and National Defense of the Ministry of Defense, terrorist operations in general fell by 82 percent.
