In a maritime interception mission, 280 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops by the Colombian Air Force and the Colombian Navy, which were on board a Go Fast type ship in the waters of the Colombian Caribbean Sea.
Together, with an aircraft of the Colombian Air Force and a unit of the naval aviation of the Colombian Navy, carried out a detailed follow-up to the ship, which was transiting through San Andrés waters and intended to reach Central America. Once the course was identified, military personnel were deployed to carry out the maritime interception procedure.
At the moment of noticing the existence of the military authorities, the individuals who manned the suspicious boat, left the illegal goods at sea and started to escape. Instantly, the members of the Military Forces recovered 11 sacks of the water, which, inside, had 275 rectangular packages; this cargo was taken to the Island of San Andrés, where the review procedures were executed.
On the ground, the members of the Technical Investigation Staff of the Attorney General's Office, carried out the preliminary identification test approved to the substance, resulting in a positive result for cocaine hydrochloride. The material was put into custody of the authorities for destruction.
