Bambi buckets and elements to quell the conflagrations, are the elements that were distributed by the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, thanks to the work of the U.S. Southern Command, The U.S. Army and the South Carolina National Guard. These aids will be vital to face possible emergencies due to the Phenomenon of El Ni帽o.
The wave of forest fires that have been occurring for some days and that have significantly hit the ecosystem in Colombia, are the main concern that motivated the Colombian Military Forces and the Government of the United States, to unite once again, to strengthen their ties of cooperation.
Through the US Embassy in Colombia, the Southern Command and the South Carolina National Guard, the Military Forces managed the distribution of four bambi buckets for the Army Aviation, as well as about 40 kits for the assistance and suppression of fires for ground operations.
The four Bambi Buckets, or water collection system for the extinction of forest fires from height, will be used in UH-60 Black Hawk aircraft which will be conditioned and configured to be always ready and to be used when required. It is important to note that each Bambi Bucket has an approximate capacity of 600 gallons of water, which will be a fundamental tool for the assistance of possible forest fires in Colombia.
As for the fire control kits, the Disaster Care and Prevention Brigade will receive about 40 kits with which a platoon of soldiers will be equipped, which, as happened a few days ago, were a vital piece for the control and extinction of forest fires in places such as the Eastern Hills of Bogot谩, Boyac谩, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca and Magdalena, among others.
These kits, whose investment is close to 300 million pesos, have anti-flame garments, helmets and protective glasses, shovels, water pumps on the back, rakes, chainsaws, kits for fire extinction among other elements.
