Norte de Santander. In compliance with the Victoria Stabilization and Consolidation Campaign Plan, troops of the Vulcano Task Force, a unit attached to the Second Division of the National Army, in a coordinated and joint operations with the Police and the Colombian Air Force, in rural area of the municipality of El Tarra - Norte de Santander, managed to destroy a laboratory where up to 4,000 kilos of cocaine could be produced per month. Troops also found a 9mm caliber pistol with one supplier and 10 cartridges for it.
In recent hours, troops of the Ground Operations Battalion N ° 10 of the Vulcano Task Force and the National Army Narcotics Brigade, jointly with the Air Combat Command N ° 1 of the Colombian Air Force, and thanks to intelligence information of the Regional Antinarcotics Company N ° 5 of the National Police, in the village La Esperanza in the municipality of El Tarra, a laboratory for the processing of cocaine hydrochloride was located and destroyed.
Troops destroyed the laboratory along with 243 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride in process, 25 kilos of coca base paste, 140 kilos of solid precursors and 2,123 gallons of liquid precursors, four power plants, five microwave ovens for the drying process of cocaine hydrochloride, and a metal container with 15 holes called "worm".
This coca grower complex is valued at around 2,000 million pesos and it would feed the subsystem of finance of the armed group of the Epl 'Los Pelusos'. It is important to say that this amount of drug could be divided into about 237,000 doses that would have a commercial cost of approximately 2,370 million pesos (about US$ 834,000).
To date, the Vulcano Task Force has achieved the dismantling of four cocaine hydrochloride laboratories in the Catatumbo region, in which it has found about 8,876 gallons of liquid precursors and 20 tons of solid precursors.
