The military operations were carried out in the department of Norte de Santander with the support of the Anti-Narcotics Brigade of the National Army, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police.
In compliance with the Bicentenary Campaign Plan “Héroes de la Libertad,” troops of the Vulcano Task Force, in recent days in the rural areas of the municipalities of Tibú and El Tarra, in the department of Norte de Santander, have achieved the dismantling of two illicit substances laboratories and an illegal refinery of precursors, belonging to the Organized Armed Group GAO - Eln.
The operations were carried out jointly and in coordination with the Colombian Air Force and the National Police and led to the discovery, in the villages Area Libre and Guachimán, in the municipality of Tibú, of two laboratories of coca base paste, valued at approximately 16 million pesos.
In the place, the soldiers found 290 gallons of refined gasoline (pategrillo), 290 of coca base in process, 55 gallons of coca base paste and 55 of coca leaf minced. As well as 17 kilos of lime, 25 of cement, 10 kilograms of urea and five gallons of ammonia sulfate.
Parallel to these operations, in the village El Diviso, municipality of El Tarra, an illegal refinery was found. In there, 1,615 kilograms of solid precursors and 810 gallons of liquid substances were found by troops, as well as 13 microwave ovens and 18 barrels of different sizes.
