According to the authorities, this organized common crime group would be fulfilling orders issued by the Substructure of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Ismael Ruiz, which commits crimes in the south of Tolima and north of Huila.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plan, the Zeus Stabilization and Consolidation Operational Command, with troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.18, in a joint operation with the Colombian Aerospace Force and coordinated with the National Police, the arrest of four alleged members of the organized gang Los del Sur, took place damaging the criminal operations of the substructure Ismael Ruiz.
The operation was carried out in the municipality of Planadas, Tolima, after a thorough follow-up that led to the finding of these four people, who were carrying out various criminal operations to favor the Ismael Ruiz Substructure. Several items alluding to the former FARC-EP were found by troops at the scene of the events, such as banners and pamphlets, in addition to a 22-caliber firearm, a traumatic weapon, 200 7.62-caliber cartridges, two multipurpose vests, military accessories, 14 bags with marijuana, three cell phones and a communication radio.
The four detainees were put into custody of the authority, and they will have to face charges for association to commit crimes, trafficking, manufacture of narcotics and illicit destination of furniture and real estate.
