A laboratory for the production of illicit substances was destroyed in the municipality of López de Micay, in the department of Cauca, by Colombian Navy troops attached to the Pacific Naval Force, who maintain a heavy operation in this area of the country, against organizations linked to drug trafficking.
The finding occurred during an area search and control operation, in which Troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.42, in the middle of a jungle area found this coca base paste laboratory, with about 10 thousand coca plants, 180 gallons of chopped coca leaves, 85 gallons of liquid precursors and 50 kilograms of solid precursors, including cement and ammonium sulfate, used for drug production.
During the procedure it was in the same way found near the laboratory, a wooden structure type “cambuche”, with capacity to house up to 15 individuals.
This year, the Pacific Naval Force has managed to find and destroy 106 laboratories in this area of the country.
