In a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to find and dismantle an area of illicit exploitation of mining deposits, belonging to the Clan del Oriente Organized Group, found on the course of the Samaná River, in the La Linda village, in the municipality of Samaná-Caldas.
The mission led to the finding of two excavators; a truck engine, used as a motor pump; an industrial power generator, an electricity generator, among other elements used for the exploitation, which are costing 5,400 million pesos, significantly harming the finances of this organized crime group.
The natural area was being destroyed by organized crime groups with the use of yellow machinery and chemical substances for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits and through this military operation the territory deteriorated by this crime is recovered, significantly contributing to the protection of the environment in this area of the country.
The Colombian Air Force will continue to carry out this type of military operations, aimed at the conservation and care of natural resources, to prevent major damage to the ecosystem and fighting against this crime that attacks natural resources in the Magdalena Center.
