Colombian National Army troops in the Department of La Guajira continue to fight against drug trafficking, seeking to curb the export of illicit drugs.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, soldiers of the Tenth Brigade carried out a successful operation against drug trafficking, which in the last few hours, in La Palma, municipality of la Jagua de Pilar, Department of La Guajira, led to finding of about two tons of marijuana, valued at more than 800 million pesos.
Thanks to information provided by military intelligence, soldiers of the Mechanized Cavalry Group No. 2, at a checkpoint, identified a vehicle that was traveling suspiciously. The occupants of this, seeing the work of the troops, leave it abandoned. When the soldiers do the search, they find 40 packages with 1998 bags of one kilogram each with the drug.
The material was put into custody of the authorities for the initiation of the corresponding judicial proceedings.
Colombian National Army will continue to carry out powerful operations, with the firm purpose of countering the factors of instability that violate the rights of the communities of the Departments of La Guajira and Cesar.
