The arrest of the members of the GAO Clan del Golfo came when they were gathering to plan criminal activities.
In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, it was possible to arrest seven members of the Manuel Jos茅 Gait谩n substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the department of Sucre.
The operation was carried out in compliance with a search warrant in a house in the Altos del Rosario neighborhood of the city of Sincelejo-Sucre, where troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) - Sucre and units of the Section of Judicial Investigation of the Police - SIJIN, arresting five men and two women; these individuals were allegedly meeting coordinating selective homicides, collection of extortion money, manufacture, distribution and sale of narcotics in the subregion of the Sabana Sucre帽a.
Some of those arrested are alias Felipe, alias Rub茅n and alias Santana, members of the substructure Manuel Jos茅 Gait谩n of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, who are wanted by the judicial authorities for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking or carrying firearms, ammunition and/or accessories.
During the search, they found a 32-mm caliber revolver, 272 cartridges of different calibres, 4 magazines for rifle, 1 magazine for 9-mm pistol, 3 motorcycles, 5 mobile phone equipment, cash and clothing for the exclusive use of the Colombian Military Forces.
Those arrested and the materials found were given to the judicial authorities, in order to continue with the prosecution process.
The Colombian Navy, in coordination with the National Police, will continue to strengthen operations that led the dismantling of criminal structures, in order to ensure the security and tranquility of the inhabitants of the department of Sucre. It in the same way invites the community to report any suspicious act or activity that threatens the safety and life of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean.
