The Navy Scientific Research Ship ARC Simón Bolívar, is so far the largest ship designed and built in Colombia.
The Science and Technology Corporation for the Naval, Maritime and River Industry - Cotecmar - received the 2024 National Engineering Award in recognition of the execution of the design and construction of the Navy Scientific Research Ship ARC Simón Bolívar, the largest and most technologically complex ship built so far in Colombia.
During the ceremony held in Bogotá, the work and capacity of the Corporation that led to the country's dream of arriving with its own ship to the Antarctic continent were exalted, an action that materialized at the end of 2023 during the X Scientific Expedition of Colombia to Antarctica.
In the same way, and in the framework of this event, the Colombian Navy and the General Maritime Directorate were recognized for the audit and supervision of the project, and the administrative and financial management, respectively.
This recognition becomes a reason for pride and commitment to continue promoting the national economy and making Colombia a leading actor in the naval, maritime and river industry.
