As a result of the management carried out through the Corazón Amigo Plan program, which aims to support education to improve the quality of life of children by the ages of 4 and 12, an activity was carried out aimed at beautifying the facilities of the Sumapaz Technical School, unite 17 de Enero, in the municipality of Melgar, Tolima, an operation led by men and women of the Colombian Aerospace Force.
Exterior and interior painting, recovery of the playground, construction of a rainwater canal and general cleansing, were some of the works that provided an ideal space for students to attend class with the right conditions, the initiative in the same way had the participation of both the Mayor's Office and the Passenger Collective Transport Company of Melgar, which helped with resources, to the logistics of food and hydration, during the works carried out by the Comprehensive Action Section, of the Air Combat Command No.4.
Currently, 631 students attend this School, who will enjoy renovated spaces, which in turn will be reflected in the interest in learning, taking into account that according to studies, such as the one conducted in the United States by the 21st Century School Fund in 2010, statistically significant positive results are seen in appropriated school constructions and standardized tests to measure learning processes.
The Colombian Aerospace Force will continue to be a pioneer of this type of works, especially in the most vulnerable sectors, thus contributing to the construction of a better future for those who, as in this case, are in the first stage of academic training. In the same way, FAC thanks people for the opportunity they give military and civilian personnel to create ties through social responsibility programs.
