In Cúcuta, Department of Norte de Santander, General Luis Emilio Cardozo Santamaría led a radio program with the units in this region, where he gave instructions to strengthen security and carry out powerful operations against environmental crimes.
Accompanied by the commanders of the units that constitute the Second Division of Colombian National Army, Mr. General Cardozo addressed to more than 17,000 soldiers. He acknowledged the military operation on the ground and highlighted the unwavering commitment of every man and woman serving in this important region of the country.
During his speech, he highlighted the efforts of the military operation of the units who work for the protection of the nation's strategic resources, such as the petroleum transportation constructions, and he ordered to strengthen intelligence efforts to prevent new terrorist acts, condemning the serious environmental damage caused recently by the enemy, which he described as an ecocide.
General Cardozo in the same way visited the five soldiers injured in the terrorist attack perpetrated by the ELN organized armed group in Teorama, Norte de Santander Department. According to the medical report, two of the soldiers will be taken to the Military Hospital in Bogotá to receive specialized care, while the other three will continue their treatment at the Duarte Clinic in Cúcuta.
Finally, the commander urged the officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers to continue working for the security and development of the inhabitants of Santander, and to strengthen coordinated work with the people and local authorities to face these challenges.
