With the purpose of continuing to strengthen ties of cooperation and combat transnational threats, General Ramses Rueda Rueda, Commander of the Colombian Air Force, and Major General Leonel Am铆lcar Mu帽oz Noboa, Commander General of the Air Force of the Dominican Republic, within the framework of the regional air interception strategy, Operation Zeus-CARIBE VIII, in which it was ratified the necessary support to strengthen the operational and response resources of the partner countries of the Central American and Caribbean region against common threats.
The opening of this combined operation took place at the Air Base San Isidro, Santo Domingo, October 26, 2021, where both representatives highlighted that this type of effort of a mutual agreement seeks to integrate wills, Resources, and air spaces, with the aim of increasing standards of interoperability to optimize the practices in the fight against drug trafficking, to strengthen the Resources of air defense, as well as, techniques, tactics and procedures to coordinate the response capacity around an operational synergy, preventing the use of mobility routes by the organizations at the service of drug trafficking in the region.
In addition to the above, with the implementation of the operational procedures in force in the two countries, this operation will led the sharing of lessons from the past and experiences in air interception involving the maritime border area and the airspace covered by the two nations, with the aim of making permanent coordination conducted by the Command and Control Centers, for the benefit of the air defense of the region.
In Caribe VIII, operations will be carried out to detect, identify and transfer irregular air traffic on unidentified aircraft, with the participation of different air platforms of the Air Forces for the effective control and surveillance of the airspace and use of the available technological resources.
