After two days of supply work in Riohacha, the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Urabá of the Colombian Navy set sail with humanitarian aid and an interdisciplinary team, to enter by sea to Alta Guajira region and bring aid to the inhabitants of this region of the country, hit by the wave caused by rains.
In the first phase, the ARC Golfo of Urabá and the vehicles of the Navy Infantry Mobility Battalion of the Colombian Navy will have the mission of transporting and distributing humanitarian aid in Bahía Honda, Bahía Hondita, Castilletes, Karasúa, Puerto Bolívar, Puerto Estrella and Puerto López, with the support of members of the different authorities and institutions. For the second phase, the units of the Naval Institution will return to Riohacha in order to reload and return with support and hope for the inhabitants of the Department of La Guajira.
In the coming days, due to facing adverse weather and terrain conditions in about 250 kilometers of arid terrain and 187 nautical miles, the Sailors will arrive in these territories of deep Colombia to mitigate the blows caused by this natural phenomenon in these communities, through the distribution of basic necessities and groceries, including are food, toilet kits, drinking water, among others.
