On board the ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo Logistics Support Ship and in the midst of the health emergency caused by Covid-19, the Colombian Navy transported from Turbo, in the department of Antioquia, to Acandí, in the department of Chocó, three electricity generators that will optimize the provision of energy service in this municipality, thus benefiting more than three thousand houses.
This maritime transport operation, coordinated and conducted by the Urabá Coast Guard Station, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Chocó Governorate and the Acandí Mayor's Office, led to the arrival of the three generators donated by the Institute for Planning and Promotion of Solutions for Non-Interconnected Zones - IPSE; with their operation, a continuous and reliable electric power service can be provided in the municipality.
Acandí currently has two electricity generators that have failures in their operation, so that, daily, between two and eight in the morning, the nearly 13 thousand inhabitants of the municipality do not have electricity instead a rationing of energy. Once assembled and put into operation, it is expected that the new generators with a total capacity of 3,300 kW will correct the electricity deficit and therefore rationing.
