Within the frame of the celebration of World Water Week, the Almirante Padilla Naval Cadet School - ENAP, over the weekend led a planting activity on the Island of Manzanillo, in the El Bosque neighborhood - Cartagena, which added 200 new seedlings to the flora inventory that the place has.
The activity directed by the Environmental division of the Alma Mater, counted on the support of the Environmental Public Establishment and the company Aguas de Cartagena, who donated the plants including oak, cedar, roasted corn and mangrove, which were taken by troops to the sector known as Punta Recluta, within the ENAP, for reforestation.
The planting of the seedlings was carried out by crew members and officials of the Caribbean Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center, the Recycled Save Your World S.A.S company and the Naval Cadet School.
“The reforestation of this area of the Island contributes to the mitigation of coastal erosion, leads to an increase in biodiversity and strengthens the local ecosystem,” said Corvette Lieutenant Natalia Caicedo, Environment Officer of the Institution.
