In order to continue strengthening the Unified State operation in the Colombian Caribbean, the Colombian Navy supported the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing -ICBF, in the distribution of 500 kilograms of non-perishable food to the inhabitants of the island of Santa Cruz del Islote, in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, as part of the efforts to guarantee the food security and well-being of families during the period of Mandatory Preventive Isolation.
These humanitarian aid, equivalent to approximately two months of food supplements, were transported by sea to the island in Rapid Reaction Units of the Cove帽as Coast Guard Station, and are part of a nutritional package managed by the ICBF, which in the same way included medicines for the health center and didactic material for the school of the island. Since the beginning of the period of Mandatory Preventive Isolation, in order to contribute to the containment of the spread of the coronavirus, the Cove帽as Coast Guard Station has supported and participated in twelve humanitarian assistance activities, carried out in the coastal inhabitants of the departments of Sucre and C贸rdoba, as well as the Archipelago of San Bernardo and Isla Fuerte, thus contributing to improve the well-being and health of its inhabitants.
In compliance with the San Roque operation, the Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the protection and social development of the island territory throughout the Colombian geography, using human talent and logistical means, while ratifying its willingness to coordinate efforts with regional and national authorities, leading to the improvement of living conditions for the inhabitants of the Colombian north coast.
