This result prevented the commercialization of 507 thousand doses of cocaine and 23 thousand doses of marijuana on the international illegal market.
The Colombian Navy works against the transnational crime of illicit drug trafficking, jointly with the Colombian Air Force, reported finding more than 342 kilograms of narcotics that were transported by two individuals in the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
In this operation, the resources of the Military Forces were combined, with the effective deployment of Surface and Naval Aviation units of the Colombian Navy together with an aircraft of the Colombian Air Force, who reported the detection of a Go Fast type boat manned by a Colombian and a Dominican, who apparently intended to take the illegal merchandise to a port in the Dominican Republic.
A Colombian Navy Coast Guard unit consolidated the result after a chase, reporting the maritime interception of the ship 19 nautical miles north of Puerto Bolivar, in the department of La Guajira. Inside the boat, members of the Military Forces found 16 sacks with 488 rectangular packages similar to those used by drug trafficking organizations to transport illicit substances and a pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition of different calibers.
Once on the ground, the different substances contained in the packages were analyzed and the result was 202.9 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 139.9 kilograms of marijuana.
The arrested personnel and the material were put into custody of the Technical Investigation Staff - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office to continue to conduct the prosecution process.
Thanks to this decisive operation of the Colombian Military Forces, the commercialization of 507 thousand doses of cocaine and 23 thousand doses of marijuana on the international illegal market was prevented, preventing also the entry of 7.7 million dollars into the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in this region of the country.
