Through this result, the commercialization of more than five million doses on the streets of the world was prevented.
In recent weeks, two powerful blows have been dealt to drug trafficking groups in this region of the country.
During maritime control operations against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy seized 2.3 tons of cocaine hydrochloride 290 nautical miles of the San Andrés Archipelago.
In the operation, which began after receiving an alert on a ship sailing at high speed to the north of the Archipelago, Coast Guard, Naval Aviation and Surface units of the Caribbean Naval Force were launched, and units found the suspicious ship and immediately began the pursuit amid adverse weather conditions.
The individuals who were in charge of the boat, noticing the activity of the naval and air units of the Colombian Navy, initiated evasive maneuvers, leaving several sacks in the sea. The reaction of the Colombian Sailors and their expertise led to the recovery of 116 bags, which were taken to the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés, where units of the National Police conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that it was 2,336 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. It is estimated that the substance found would be valued at more than US$78 million on the international illegal market.
This result is the product of a joint and Interagency operation with the Colombian Air Force and the Joint Interagency Task Force of the Southern Command of the United States - JIATFS, is a new blow against the groups serving drug trafficking in this region of the country, since in recent days 3,379 kilograms of cocaine had been found in this same area, which becomes a direct damage to these illegal organizations in more than 200 million dollars, which stop entering their criminal finances.
