Units of the Colombian Navy in river control and inspection operations on the Putumayo River in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, found approximately 90 cubic meters of wood, which was transported on board a rudimentary messenger boat.
The find was carried out by troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.30, attached to the Naval Force of the South, which intercepted the boat El Arca de Noé, which was manned by two people of Colombian nationality. When checking the interior of the boat were found by troops 90 cubic meters of wood, which did not have the documentation required for the transportation of this resource issued by the Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the south of the Amazon.
The individuals were arrested for the crime of illicit use of renewable natural resources and subsequently they were put into custody of the authorities along with the materials.
The National Navy through the Naval Force of the South ratifies the commitment to neutralize the illegal trafficking of timber extracted in this region of the country, thus contributing to the conservation of Natural Resources.
