This year, the Pacific Naval Force has seized 836 kilograms of marijuana.
Inside an illegal deposit, in Punta Ardita, in Juradó, Chocó, soldiers of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23, attached to Navy Brigade No.2, seized 175.9 kilograms of marijuana, which would have belonged to the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, which commits crimes in this area.
Led by Naval intelligence information, the Maritime Task Group Pacifico Norte, carried out the planning and development for the search and finding of that deposit for illicit substances, where were found three cellars, two sacks, three bags, one barrel and three small boxes, which contained 321 rectangular packages, which by their smell and color looked marijuana alike.
During the operation no captures were reported and the material found was transported aboard a unit of the Colombian Navy to the facilities of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.23, in Bahía Solano, where troops of the National Police Criminal Investigation Operation Group conducted the Preliminary Identification Test (Piph), which had a positive result for 175.9 kilograms of marijuana.
With this new coup, the Colombian Navy, through the Pacific Naval Force, counters one of the main sources of financing of this Organized Armed Group that commits crimes in the north Pacific of Colombia. The Colombian Navy also suggests citizens to continue denouncing any illegal or suspicious activity on the free lines 146 and 147, available 24 hours a day.
