Thanks to information, the Colombian Navy through the Coast Guard Units of Urabá seized about 180 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were transported on board a Go Fast boat, 25 nautical miles northwest of Cerro Águila-Necoclí, Antioquia.
Coast Guard Units, attached to the Caribbean Naval Force, detected and interdicted the suspicious boat manned by two individuals, one of Colombian nationality and another of Panamanian origin.
During the maritime interception operation, the individuals left seven bags at sea, which contained 180 rectangular packages inside and began their escape by launching into the sea, which caused injuries to them in one of their upper limbs. They were assisted in a timely manner by crew members of the Coast Guard of the Colombian Navy, who transferred them to the District Hospital of Turbo, Antioquia, for specialized medical assistance.
Immediately, in coordination with units of the Judicial Police of Turbo, the Preliminary Identification Tests –PIPH– were carried out, giving a positive result for 180 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The two individuals were put into custody of the authorities.
This operation was a heavy blow to drug trafficking organizations in the Golfo de Urabá since it prevented more than seven million dollars from entering into their logistics structures.
