The successful search and rescue operation was conducted by Coast Guard and Naval Aviation crew members in coordination with local authorities, relatives of the disappeared and members of the maritime and fishermen's productive groups, who after receiving information about the disappearance of three people on May 30, 2023, when they were fishing in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, activated the protocols for search and rescue, deploying human and technical resources to find their whereabouts.
Thanks to the effective coordination of the available means and after more than 36 hours of searching, the Civil Aeronautics received information on the visualization of a ship in the area, informing the Naval Institution, which immediately initiated the coordination and deployed the air and maritime means of the operational components of the Caribbean Naval Force to the sector, to verify the information provided.
The aeronautical pilots reported identifying and finding the boat and the three fishermen, guiding the Sailors on board the Coast Guard boat at sea who arrived at the place and assisted the personnel in emergency, reporting their rescue.
The rescued Colombians were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Cove帽as, where members of the Colombian Navy provided them with primary health care and later they were reunited with their relatives. According to the information provided by the three men, the emergency was caused by mechanical failures in the boat's engine.
