A rescue team of Naval Aviation Personnel took part in the search and rescue operation.
In facts that took place in the access channel of the bay of San Andrés, a Coast Guard Unit of the Colombian Navy rescued four shipwrecked, two men, a woman and an eight-year-old child, who had been thrown into the water after the boat in which they were traveling suffered a shipwreck due to adverse weather conditions in the area.
The San Andrés Maritime Traffic and Control Station received the help call via VHF made by the navigators of the region, who alerted the sighting of a boat in emergency at the sea. Immediately, the search and rescue procedure was activated by deploying a rapid reaction unit of the San Andrés Coast Guard Station.
Upon arriving at the emergency area, the Naval Institution crewmen saw that the two men were clinging to the boat, the woman had a life jacket and the minor had been put on the hull of the wrecked boat, so troops proceeded to make the timely rescue aboard the Coast Guard Unit and verified good health conditions.
Later, they were transported together along with the boat to the main dock of the San Andrés Coast Guard Station, where a medical team of the Regulatory Center for Emergencies and Emergencies - CRUE- provided them with specialized medical assistance.
