Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy rescued four Colombian citizens, who shipwrecked while sailing about five nautical miles from Puerto Velero, a well-known tourist resort in the municipality of Tubar谩, Atl谩ntico department.
The successful operation began when the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance Tower of Barranquilla received the emergency call of the captain of the boat Rachete 21, informing about the entry of water to his ship and the imminent shipwreck of it. Immediately, the search and rescue procedure was activated and a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Barranquilla Coast Guard Station was deployed, which arrived at the scene in a few minutes and rescued the four crew members.
After verifying the health status of the rescued people and determining that they did not need emergency medical assistance, they were taken to Puerto Velero, where they were reunited with their relatives.
It should be noted that, thanks to the timely call by the crew members of the boat that capsized, it was possible to provide support in the emergency without further damage to their good physical condition, because one of the determining factors in the success of a search and rescue operation at sea, is the reaction time and assistance to the emergency.
