The timely reaction of the Colombian Navy units led to the safeguarding of the life of a 63-year-old Colombian citizen, who was left adrift after the sailboat in which he was sailing was damaged by heavy meteorological conditions.
The facts were known through the emergency call received by the Maritime Traffic Control Tower, which warned the Coast Guard units of Santa Marta about the overturning of a sailboat in which a person was traveling.
The search was carried out once the emergency call was received, which led to providing assistance to 2.3 nautical miles of coast in the area of Pozos Colorados, where the citizen was assisted aboard the Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard of Santa Marta, discarding any type of injury, to later tow the boat to the beach area of the Sierra Laguna Hotel.
