In the last few hours, during search and control operations, units of the Colombian Navy rescued 22 tourists who were in an emergency two nautical miles of the Tayrona National Natural Park.
The successful search and rescue operation began once Coast Guard crew members received an emergency call of the crew of a boat reporting the capsizing of a boat with 22 passengers on board, including four minors.
Once the situation was known, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Santa Marta Coast Guard Primary Station was deployed, which, in a timely manner, managed to rescue the tourists and crew of the ship.
Thanks to the preparation and the high degree of preparation of the crew members of the Naval Institution, first aid was provided to the people, determining that most of them had minor injuries. The rescued were immediately taken to a safe dock at the Navy of Santa Marta, in order to be taken to the nearest health center.
Simultaneously, the Naval Institution made contact with the Port Authority of the capital city of Magdalena, to report the situation and conduct the investigations that will clarify the causes of the maritime accident.
