Rescue of 20 passengers during boat fire on the Amazon River
During river control operations in the Ca帽o Yahuarcaca sector on the Amazon River, Colombian Navy crew rescued 20 people from a boat, attached to a tourism company that had a fire in the outboard engine.
The staff of the Rapid Reaction Unit of the Amazon Coast Guard Group, upon noticing the emergency, proceeded to transfer the people and extinguish the fire with specialized Coast Guard teams. According to the authorities, the incident was apparently the result of a breakdown in the engine due to a possible failure in the cooling system.
The rescued personnel and the boat were taken to the pier of the Malec贸n in the municipality of Leticia, Amazonas, where another boat of the company transported them to the hotel zone where they were going to rest.
