The Colombian Navy, in an anti-extortion and anti-kidnapping operation coordinated with the Technical Investigation Corps -CTI of the Attorney General's Office, reported the rescue of two women, who apparently had been held against their will, in the Rosario Islands, insular area of Cartagena in the department of Bol铆var.
According to the information provided by a person to the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bol铆var hotline, armed individuals reportedly entered her place of residence in the Rosario Islands, illegally detaining a relative.
Immediately, an inter-institutional group made up of troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Bol铆var, the Caribbean Coast Guard and the Technical Investigation Corps arrived at the scene, identifying and arresting ten individuals. During the search of the house, two women were found by troops tied up and gagged inside one of the rooms.
Once they were freed by men of the Naval Institution and their health status was verified, they pointed to the arrested personnel as those responsible for their kidnapping. The arrested and the released people were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Cartagena and put into custody of the authorities to conduct the legal procedures. The authorities are carrying out investigations to clarify what happened.
