In hard-to-reach areas, men of the Caribbean Naval Force reached the most vulnerable inhabitants by carrying out water extraction maneuvers as a result of heavy rains, while distributing humanitarian aid.
Inhabitants of the neighborhoods San Estanislao de Kostka and El Poz贸n and the Cartagena's historic center received support until the early hours of the morning by men and women of the Naval Institution, who conducted the maneuvers of water extraction after the floods caused by the transit of tropical Storm IOTA.
Thus, there has been an uninterrupted deployment of units of the Cartagena Coast Guard Station, the Colombian Navy's Risk Management Company, and troops of the Infantry Battalion N.12, as well as crews of the Department of diving and Rescue and the Caribbean surface Flotilla, mainly responsible for leading the maneuvers of water extraction from houses, safe evacuation of people in high-risk areas, and distribution of humanitarian aid, in order to mitigate the impact generated by heavy rains and winds on the Heroic city.
The Command of the Naval Force of the Caribbean, has arranged the Standing Committee of Emergency that steadily carried out the monitoring, tracking and decision making for the timely support of the communities, in a coordinated manner with the institutions and the district who are committed to face the emergency.

The Navy infantry troops and members of the Risk Management Company of the Colombian Navy, made the distribution of more than 1,000 units of donations to the inhabitants of the 40 families living in the hit area of the municipality of San Estanislao de Kostka, who benefited from basic necessities, including non-perishable food, clothing, pillows, mattresses, sheets, towels and other necessary items during the emergency.
Simultaneously, men of the diving and Rescue Department equipped with motor pumps, extraction machinery and storage tanks extracted the water that flooded the facilities of the Sue帽os de Amor School and the houses of about 300 people, who were at high risk due to the uncontrolled entry of water into their houses. In coordination with the authorities, it was possible to stabilize the conditions, ensuring the good physical condition and life of the inhabitants of El Poz贸n, a vulnerable sector of Cartagena.
In the same way, troops of the Risk Management Company of the Colombian Navy distributed more than 200 breakfasts to vulnerable communities in the coastal zone in the municipality of Puerto Bello, in order to satisfy some of the basic needs of children and older adults in a prioritized manner.
