- More than 216 tons of narcotics have been found by the Naval Institution in the Colombian Pacific, in 2024.
-The operation was supported by a US aircraft.
In broad daylight, thanks to a maritime pursuit conducted by the units of the Colombian Navy on a suspicious ship, which tried to flee when noticing the work of the authority without any success, the was the interception of the boat in which four individuals of Colombian nationality were planning to reach Central America, transporting 77 sacks of narcotics.
The maritime interception procedure began when the ship was detected by the radars of a Colombian Navy ship, which was conducting comprehensive maritime security and control operations in the Pacific, in waters adjacent to the department of Valle del Cauca. Immediately, a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit was sent to conduct the pursuit of the boat named Ministerial, whose crew members, although several evasive maneuvers, were detained.
During the search of the ship, the Colombian Sailors found a large number of bags, apparently with illicit substances, which is why the material was taken along with the personnel and the boat to the surface unit that was in the area.
Once there, they were transported to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH - was conducted, determining that the packages contained 2,269 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The individuals aged 23, 29, 32 and 38 were put into custody of the authorities to continue to conduct their judicial process.
Through this result, the Naval Institution prevented the entry of more than 76 million dollars into the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations, as well as the distribution of more than 5.6 million doses of the drug on the streets of the world.
So far this year, the Pacific Naval Force has found 216 tons of narcotics, of which 173 tons have been cocaine hydrochloride and 42 tons of marijuana.
