More than 221 tons of drugs have been found by the Naval Institution in the Colombian Pacific, so far this year.
After a midnight pursuit in waters adjacent to the department of Nariño, units of the Colombian Navy conducted comprehensive maritime control and security operations, and intercepted a suspicious ship manned by three individuals of Colombian nationality, in waters of the South Pacific, who were planning to transport 3,735 kilograms of narcotics to Central America.
The operation began when a Colombian Navy ship detected with its radars a boat traveling in the area. Immediately, a unit of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco was sent, which carried out the pursuit and subsequent maritime interception, finding inside the ship 148 sacks of different shapes and sizes, which by their characteristics would resemble illicit substances.
Subsequently, the navy units of Colombia transferred the individuals of 33, 42, and 52 years old, the material and the boat, to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where they were put into custody of the Technical Corps of Criminal and Judicial Investigation – CTI, who conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH to the packages, which left positive result for 2,980 kilograms of marijuana and 755 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
Through this finding, the Colombian Navy prevented more than 44 million dollars from entering the finances of drug trafficking organizations and distribution of more than 2.3 million doses on the streets of the world.
So far this year, the Naval Institution in the Colombian Pacific has found 221 tons of narcotics, of which 175 tons have been cocaine hydrochloride and 45 of marijuana.
The Colombian Navy will continue to carry out operations that lead to attack the entire drug trafficking chain, in order to deal powerful blows to its production, financial and logistical structures, which hit the Colombian Pacific communities.
