Units of the Colombian Navy along with the staff of the Fire Department of the island of San Andrés, control the fire that occurred aboard a recreational Colombian boat that was anchored in the waters of the bay.
The facts were known by the crew of the Naval institution after receiving the emergency call of the Maritime Traffic Control Tower, timely alerting the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés about the fire in one of the compartments of the ship Karibbes.
Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit –URR - of the Coast Guard that carried out patrols and maritime traffic control, moved to the Cotton Cay sector, the site of the emergency. There, assistance was provided to the people who boarded the boat, verifying their good health, to initiate fire maneuvers using fire extinguishers of the Naval institution.
Once the emergency was controlled, members of the San Andrés Fire Brigade were transported aboard the Rapid Reaction Unit of the dock to the boat in order to finalize the operations against the conflagration and verify the facts. According to the concept of the Fire Department, the fire would have been caused by a short circuit.
