The Navy of Colombia strengthens the deployment of the river Resources, in the area of responsibility of the Naval Force of the South, corresponding to 4.758 kilometers of navigable rivers in the southeastern Colombia; it works for the free transit and navigation of the inhabitants of riverside communities that travel on the water tributaries in the departments of Amazonas, Guaviare, Meta, Caquet谩 and Putumayo.
Units attached to Navy Infantry Brigade No.3 and the Amazon Coast Guard Group, have intensified the number of units with more than 600 men, strengthening river controls in the primary and secondary rivers, who share border areas with Brazil, Ecuador and Peru. As a result of this work, during the current year, 6,581 ships and 31,864 people have been inspected in order to verify compliance with current regulations for the correct transport of personnel and cargo.
In the same way, the last weekend was held in the urban area of the municipality of Puerto Legu铆zamo-Putumayo, an episode of the Plan Saludo in coordination with the National Police, made of more than 190 men and women of the Military Forces, thus strengthening relations with civilians, reiterating the support work for the security and development of communities as part of the fulfillment of the constitutional mission.
In the area of responsibility of the Southern Naval Force, there is currently no work of structures belonging to the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN. However, military operations continue to be carried out in a joint, combined and coordinated manner in order to counter the criminal operations of Residual Organized Armed Groups, identified as E-48, Estructura Carolina Ram铆rez, E-62 Miller Perdomo, E-40 Jorge Brice帽o Su谩rez, E-1 Armando R铆os and common criminality groups.
In order to destabilize and hit the finances of the criminal structures, the Southern Naval Force has produced powerful operational results such as the arrest of five individuals while carrying out illegal mining activities, the arrest of a man who was found with 3,020 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, the destruction of 24 illegal structures for the production of coca-base paste, the destruction of, the deactivation and subsequent destruction of improvised explosive devices and the finding of contraband merchandise valued at more than 35 million pesos.
